The importance of baby's Tummy Time Can't be stressed enough. Although the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended placing babies on their backs to sleep, resulting in a significant decrease in sudden infant death syndrome cases, this practice has led to more babies developing flat spots on their skulls (positional plagiocephaly) and can delay motor development due to limited upper body muscle engagement. Insufficient tummy time not only affects basic skills like lifting the head and rolling over but also influences major physical milestones such as sitting, crawling, and walking.
